Tom Sczepanski, CPT, ATC, PT


Tom has over twenty-eight years of professional experience. Over the last eighteen, he has had a close professional relationship with the physicians at the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center. Educationally, Tom has extensive clinical training culminating with an Advanced Master Degree. His clinical focus is in the treatment Orthopeadics and Sports Medicine injuries. Tom is recognized by the America Physical Therapy Association as a Board Certified Specialist in both of these areas of clinical care. This dual credential has been achieved only by a limited number of clinicians.

Tom is a Certified Athletic Trainer and member of the United States Sports Medicine Society as well as a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has rehabilitated and provided training services to youth, scholastic, collegiate, and senior athletes as well as elite Olympic athletes. Tom has been a member of the Sports Medicine Team at the Olympic training camp, the World University Games and the Olympics. Locally, he provided athletic training services at Severn School for of number of years and was instrumental in setting the foundation for the schools current full-time athletic training program.

In addition to Tom's clinical care, he has also functioned as an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Maryland-Baltimore and Anne Arundel Community College. Tom is currently a staff Physical Therapist at the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center's Benfield Office. He has been at this site since opening in July, 2004. Tom's clinical focus remains Orthopedics and Sports Medicine with a special interest in biomechanics of the extremities and how altered mechanics can lead to pain and dysfunction.

Brenda Shaeffer, PT, DPT


Dr. Brenda Shaeffer has a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Simmons College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cleveland State University. She has been a Licensed Physical Therapist since 1978 and business owner and private practitioner since 1981. Dr. Shaeffer is an Ohio native where she was co-founder and owner of a large, multi disciplinary sport, orthopedic and industrial rehabilitation company, Dublin Physical Therapy, Inc.. A Maryland resident since 1994, she owns Advantage Physical Therapy, specializing in injury prevention of and treatment for sport and orthopedic issues. She is a researcher, lecturer on topics related to sport performance and musculoskeletal injury.

As a former elite gymnast and coach, national and international sailboat racer, she understands competition, sports injuries and performance on a personal and professional level. She has been and is involved with injury risk identification, management and treatment with all types and levels of athletes including amateurs, collegiate and professional athletes in football (NFL) , golf (PGA), bicycle and motorcycle racing, tennis, rodeo, sailboat racing, soccer, lacrosse, gymnastics, baseball, marathons, bi- and triathlons.

Dr. Shaeffer uses and integrative assessment and treatment approach utilizing techniques proven through valid, scientific, evidence-based research in biomechanics, physiology, kinesiology and neuroscience to treat patients with all musculoskeletal problems and performance issues.

Dr. Alan Sokoloff, D.C., D.A.C.B.S.P


Dr. Alan K. Sokoloff, or "Dr. Sok", as his patients refer to him, is the owner/clinic director of the Yalich Clinic Performance and Rehabilitation in Glen Burnie, MD, where he has practiced for over 21 years. Dr. Sok was selected as Maryland's "Chiropractor of the Year 2001-2" and the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physician's Sports Chiropractor of the Year 2006. He holds a post-graduate degree as a Diplomat of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. Dr. Sok has been a member of the University of Maryland Sports Medicine Team since 1991.

Dr. Sokoloff served a residency at the United States Olympic Training Center, summer of 1997 and was selected to the medical team for the United States at the 1998 Goodwill Games. Dr. Sok was appointed to the USA Olympic Medical Team for the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg, Canada. He continues to be the team chiropractor for Baltimore Ravens of the NFL since 1999 and the University of Maryland Terps. Dr. Sokoloff was also the team chiropractor for the Washington Nationals (MLB) and Bowie Baysox. For over 10 years, Dr. Sok hosted a weekly health, interactive health radio program in Baltimore called "Talkin' Back" on AM-680 WCBM.
